Description

With this route you will start to discover the area of Skafiotes made up by the villages of Asprogerakata, Drymonas, Exanthia, Kavallos, Lazarata, Pinakochori and Spanochori. The name owes its origin to its first inhabitants who came from Sfakia and Chora Sfakion in the island of Crete.

Starting from Lazarata this route will allow you to discover the mountainous Lefkada. The first stop is Pinakohori, a traditional village almost abandoned few years ago and now starting again to shine.

You will continue until Karya, the capital of the mountains, famous from its traditions and the laces and carpets hanmade. Karya has also a nice Folklore Museum, where you can see several artworks from the past centuries.

On the end of the village, you will take the road of your left that is going down. Passing trough the vineyards and fruit trees until the lake of Karya.

On your way back to Lazarata, you can take a detour until The monastery of John the Baptist. Finishing again your route in the square of Lazarata.

It is a short route, not really warm in the summer and with not a lot of traffic.
